Children's Cancer Cause has awarded Penn State Health Children’s Hospital Childhood Cancer Survivorship Clinic with the Survivorship Champion's Prize. Every year, a group, institution or program receives the $10,000 Champion's Prize for making significant advances in services to provide lifelong health maintenances for childhood cancer survivors.
The Childhood Cancer Survivorship Clinic is focused on providing holistic and personalized care to empower their survivors with education and comprehensive support. When a patient enters the survivorship clinic, they meet with a physician, social worker, neuropsychologist and cancer genetic counselor to receive detailed and personalized information about possible long-term effects and other concerns.
“Our multidisciplinary team is centered around providing holistic, personalized care, and our mission is to empower our survivors with education and comprehensive support. We are truly honored to be the recipients of this year’s Champion’s Prize.” – Smita Dandekar, MD, Director of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program at Penn State Health Children's Hospital
