Connection to Four Diamonds: We are Bryce’s parents and a Four Diamonds Family.
Years of Involvement: 2017 will be our 6th THON and we’ve been involved with our Lower Dauphin School District’s Mini-THON for 7 years.
How are/were you involved with Four Diamonds and THON?
Our family has been involved with Four Diamonds and THON in many different ways. In 2011, Bryce and our family were a part of the documentary Why We Dance The Story of THON. In 2012 we spoke during family hour at THON about Bryce’s journey. We’ve spoken at numerous Mini-THONs, and we continue to support new families at THON’s new family orientation. Bryce has been on the Family Relations Committee for his Lower Dauphin High School Mini-THON his freshman and sophomore year, he was the Family Relations Captain for his junior year and is currently one of the Executive Directors during his senior year. Bryce has also participated in the THON Pep Rally for the past five years. Our family has been given so much throughout Bryce’s journey that we will always do our best to give back to Four Diamonds and THON.
Why is the partnership between Four Diamonds and THON important?
The importance between THON and the Four Diamonds is essential for families like ours. Without the Four Diamonds’ superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research it would have been nearly impossible for us to focus 100% on Bryce, his treatment and getting him better. Without the financial assistance for Bryce’s medical bills that were not covered by our insurance, we would have been financially devastated.
What is your favorite memory?
The love and support that we receive from our THON organization (Club Cross Country) and Penn State students have been truly amazing and such an incredible blessing. Even though our family has gone through a lot of ups and downs throughout Bryce’s journey, the constant love and support from our org and Penn State students have been unwavering. Not only have they been there to support Bryce, but they also support our entire family. There aren’t enough words to describe the love and gratitude that we have for Four Diamonds and THON.
